Calm, curious, happy, gorgeous, yummy, pure, and such a true joy. You love to laugh, and it is so, so contagious. Beautiful P. You love to dance secretly. No one would ever guess it by watching you in the first five minutes of dance class, but you do. Really. You walk in confident as ever to class, put those tap shoes on and ZIP! You are silent. Confident, but silent. Just wait til the teacher busts out with the train song. Off you go. Dancing star. Then comes the ballet shoes and princess song. How can you contain those happy little feet and wiggly little waist?! Time to put your shoes away and it happens again... confident silence. Six Months

Oh sister. You are everything I ever dreamed of and more. Why we were lucky enough to have you come in to our family, I will never know. You are beautiful beyond words. You have the BEST temperament, dreamiest eyes, turn me inside out and melt my heart smile. I am so blessed. I want to hold you so close that you can't grow... ever. However, each day you get all the more gorgeous. Happy half year. So Glad we kept you alive.... there were time P had us worried. At this point in your life you love rolling, rolling, rolling! And your mouth! You love putting your hands, feet and everything you can find in your mouth! And we can't forget your smile!! We adore you lovie.

The Reason for the Season.

Yesterday my sweet little four year old did something that amazed me. As usual our house was busy...I said busy, not chaotic. Eh, let's be honest, it was crazy... busy. Every so often between homework, making dinner, and so on, my sweet daughter would enter the kitchen, then leave for a little bit. I saw her even take scissors at one point. Now looking back, I don't know why I didn't stop her. During all the hustle and bustle she had taken a magnetic picture frame off the fridge and cut a small picture to fit inside. She pushed all the other papers, lists, and notes aside and perfectly placed the picture framed in the center of the fridge. I turned the corner just in time to witness her finishing. She breathed heavily and said, "Well, that's way much betta." I looked to see what it was that she was so proud of. I saw a picture of our Savior's birth cut perfectly to size to fit inside our little magnetic frame. The only thing that fit inside was Jesus Christ. All the mess on the fridge seemed completely pointless when she placed his picture perfectly in the center. Wow. Pretty profound. Christ is the reason for the season. He needs to be the center of our home during Christmas time & always. I am so blessed to be a mother and learn something new everyday from my sweet kids.

Dancing Queen

P had her first dance recital this year. We were a little nervous she would get on stage and....choke. Seeing as how every time she went to dance she would completely ignore everyone until they did the "train" song! But, truly she loves dance. I just may or may not have told her that I would take her to target if she did her dance. Needless to say, she danced her little heart out on stage. Facial expressions and all. Oh, wow. We love her! Thanks for great family coming out and supporting our little dancer. It is a long way to come for something so simple, but we appreciate it! Congrats P!!

G's class at school was chosen to sing Christmas carols at Chick Fil A this year. He did a fabulous job singing. He was so, so excited to participate. He would walk around the house doing chores, homework and so on singing Feliz Navidad. Too cute. We love this little guy. The holidays wouldn't be the same without the kids & the spirit of Christmas.

Temple Lights

we took the kids to the Temple lights this week & it was amazing. I love, love going to see the lights. We used to go when I was little and the holidays don't feel the same until we go to the Temple lights. My kids had such a great time. Poor R tried for about 10 minutes to take 1 clear picture of us. :) We got tired of smiling, so gave up. Just as we did the Elders came by and offered to take a group shot. R tried to talk them out of it, and wall-a! They got a crispy clear shot on the first try! Go figure. The only down fall to the evening was after R saw all the lights, he came home motivated to put up MORE!! Holy Griswalds. Love this time of year!!

I love this little guy. He keeps us on our toes! He always has something witty to say or a question that could stump anyone. He is such a sweet and thoughtful boy, always helping his sisters and parents. G-man loves school this year. He came home for Thanksgiving weekend with a pilgrim "piece of art"... It read, "I am thankful for God and army men." Wow. Profound coming from my little first grader. I am proud.... and also grateful for a loving Heavenly Father and brave men fighting for our freedom.

I could not be more happy for the upcoming season.... I LOVE it! This year we made a "Thankful tree" to hang in our front room. Each day we add leaves with things we are grateful for. I have loved listening to the answers my little ones come up with and also some of our daddy's! :) Just a few: Warm water, snow, scarves, temples, Lovie Nana, prayer, birthdays, hugs, baby O's giggles, daddy's homecomings, bikes, indoor plumbing, cameras, our own home, Jesus Christ, Church, Horsey Papa, soft grass, swing set, Gus, friends, skis, home videos... and believe me, the list goes on, and on! For Ryan's birthday we gave him "the Bike" he has wanted for quite a while now. We tied a string to the front door so when he got home from work he had to follow the string all through out the house until he reached the garage with the bike parked inside! He was surprised to say the least! :)

The boys went up north for their annual Show Low ride... Ry got to use his new bike! they did great... and even placed, Way to go!!

Oh how I love this girl. Every quirky bit. Today she was playing with O... she was rubbing her nose up next to O's and smiling her biggest, toothiest grin. She quickly whispered something in O's ear and went back to Eskimo kisses and smiling. When I asked her what secret she shared with O, she explained, "Jesus loves us." Then climbed up in my arms and kissed me on the cheek and said, "And I love you mom." <-- (tears inserted here.) I would be okay if that was the only thing she ever remembers me teaching her... that Jesus loves us.

Oh for reals! I was in working on some things when I heard Oakley fussing, but it immediately followed Pyper with, "Oh, it's otay O! I'm comin', I'm comin'" in a mothering tone. I waited a few seconds and Pyper proudly announced, "I gave O her paci... she's otay." I smiled and told her good job. She asked me, " You poud of me mom?!" I told her I was definitely proud of her and what a good helper she was. She then proceeded to tell me the rest of her adventure. "Mom. I put Oakley in her crib." WHAT?! I had left her in her swing! I ran into the room and saw Oakley lying peacefully in her crib....that is way taller than Pyper might I add. Yikes. How that happened, I don't even want to know.

Oh Pyper, you came running to me after your bath holding Oakley's matching pajamas begging me to try them on her. You were so persistent.... and guess what?! They fit. You were thrilled. You absolutely could NOT stop smiling, you begged and begged for us to take pictures. How cute are you two?! :)

It's official... we have a helper on our hands. Pyper Jane. As I was taking photos of Oakley, I had her laying on the floor. I forgot something and quickly went to get it, I told you I would be right back. As I was walking back I heard a HUGE gasp come out of Gaje. He screamed at me, "PYPER PICKED UP OAKLEY!!!!!!" As I bolted it back to where I left her, I saw you standing with our tiny newborn bouncing her on your hip. You looked at me and said, "Oh, it's otay. She was crying, but now she's happy!" With a huge grin on your face as our baby's head flopped around and around unsupported.

Oh P. How fun, you started dance today! You were SO excited until we got to your studio. You clammed right up and wouldn't talk for the first half of class. WHOA! Look out! Some one won't stop growing! Today you raced home as fast as your bike could take you and into my arms grinning from ear to ear. You lost your first tooth at school. You were ECSTATIC!!! I was so sad because this was such a big milestone, truly telling me you are getting older... why can't you be my little guy forever?! :) Yet, I was so thrilled for you. You have been wiggling that same tooth for weeks now, and finally it happened. Your teacher sent you home with an award and tooth necklace. Wow, they take this seriously! :) That night the tooth fairy visited you, you lucky little duck!

I haven't been to church in a few weeks after delivering O, but the kids have been LOVING our new ward. P wasn't scared or shy a bit, she just walked right up to the front row & sat down. What?! No separation anxiety?!!!! Not at all, she loves her class. She has learned so much. She came home and practically taught me a few things! :) She told me all about listening to our parents, cleaning up, praying, reading our scriptures and trying to be like Jesus. G came home all excited about his class filled with boys his age who would be attending school with him in a few weeks. He told me all about the friends he made and how "awesome" his teacher is. What a relief as a mother to see your kids excited and happy! They sure are cute!

Oh little girl. Let me tell you your sweet little story. We have dreamed about you for a very, very long time. I asked Daddy to stay home & help me with G's birthday party on Monday. We spent the morning getting the house all clean and set up for the party. I was so busy, I didn't even have time to eat (comes in handy later). All the guests arrived and the party went on as expected, until my doctor's office called and asked me to come in... right then. Yikes, I wasn't even close to ready. I left the party before it was over and went to my doctor's office. He put me on a monitor, then told me he would deliver you that night!!! I definitely was not prepared. He told me because I hadn't eaten anything, I would be able to deliver you that night at 5:00pm. He told me to go straight to the hospital and check in. WOW! I didn't see that coming! :) I ran home and packed a small bag for us and meet dad.... all the while thinking about how we haven't decided on a name yet! Daddy was so, SO excited! I was growing a little nervous, yet anxious to meet you. Together we checked into the hospital. You were born at 5:24 pm. You weighed 6 pounds 3 ounces. We were overwhelmed with joy as you entered this world. What an amazingly spiritual experience, we will never forget. We were in love with you instantly. G and P couldn't keep their eyes off you. Welcome to the world sweet baby girl!

Birthday Boy!

we made little tool belts with each boys name on them filled with tape measures, levels, safety goggles, screwdrivers... and they had cute little construction hats with their names on them. We even found cute cone shaped water bottles for the boys.

the table cloth was old construction plans with a paint bucket filled with hammers for the center piece. Each boy had a little project they were able to construct.

As party favors, we sent home mini "tool boxes" filled with goodies. we made them out of wooden boxes, spray painted red with drawer pulls on top.

boys took home a cupcake with a construction truck on chocolate icing with oreos sprinkled to look like dirt!

I absolutely adore you two. you are the best of friends (most of the time) and I am so grateful you have one another. I got the best end of the deal... I get the pleasure and blessing of being your mom. You are so beautiful in your own unique ways. I love your innocence & charm. It completely overwhelms me when I think of how fast life passes us by. I secretly wish I could push the "pause" button in life every now and then to just hold each of you, the way you are, right in that moment. This is one of my favorite photos of the two of you together, it totally captures your sweet relationship. I miss you two when you are away... it literally rips my heart out each time you have to go. I am convinced no mother should EVER have to share her babies. But, I truly cherish the precious time we do get to spend together. thank you for all of the "lubs" and kisses, the cuddles and giggles, especially for making me feel like no matter how rough life can get, the sweetest joy and treasure I will ever possess is having each of you in our family. He would get so stressed as to which truck was going to win, he would cover his eyes and tell me to let him know when it was over. He would bury his face into his lap until then. It was so funny! Polar Express

Santa invited G & P to the North Pole this year. They rode on the Polar Express & had the best time! Santa even left gifts on their bed in the hotel, new Christmas jammies! They got to eat chocolate chip cookies & hot cocoa on the train, sang Christmas carols, got their train tickets punched by the conductor, and received a bell from Santa himself. It was a blast!

Halloween {Spooktacular}

I LOVE Halloween. I love the pumpkin patches, cool weather, cute decorations, kids all dressed up, carving pumpkins, carnivals... I love it all. We had our super fun Halloween carnival at my mom's house, hopefully a new tradition! :) My kids looked so adorable this year, if I do say so myself. They are so fun & I am so lucky to be their mom.

Ry & I went as the Mad Hatter & Alice in Wonderland. He looked FABULOUS! He even let me HOT GLUE orange wig hair to his eye brows. :) He was such a crack up! I heart him.

Schnepf Farms

We took the kids to Schnepf Farm's Pumpkin & Chili festival. The kids had endless fun. They loved all of the animals, rides, food & train. P wasn't scare AT ALL on the Haunted Train ride, I'm not sure G even saw any of the ride because he covered his eyes the entire time.

Show Low Ride

Ry has really gotten into mountain biking this year. He and his bro-in-law went up north to a ride in Show Low, the weather was fabulous & the guys had a great time. We were able to make a quick stop in Snowflake & stay at the adorable Bed & Breakfast Cottage.... a do a few stops at some boutiques! :) Ry swore up & down the ride was for fun, he didn't care which place he came in, he wasn't going to push him self... blah blah blah. That doesn't explain how he placed in the top 10. Good job, Ry!

We celebrated Ryan's birthday at The Spotted Donkey restaurant in Scottsdale. It was so appropriate because just a week before he finished remodeling it. It has the BEST gourmet mexican food!!! Happy Birthday Love.

Usually the on the Monday holidays we take all of the kids on a hike. They love spending time with their cousins just as much as I love spending time with the girls. Thanks for the 3 minute hike & 4 hours of laughs. Love you guys. :)

Usually the on the Monday holidays we take all of the kids on a hike. They love spending time with their cousins just as much as I love spending time with the girls. Thanks for the 3 minute hike & 4 hours of laughs. Love you guys. :)

Bravely, I took P to Orange Patch Too. One of my favorite boutiques in Mesa, especially around the holidays. Most likely because I grew up loving it. My mom & aunts worked there seasonally and I loved going in a choosing a treat. Their candies, yogurt covered pretzels, ice cream & oranges are THE best! P choose pink icecream & made the biggest mess, but I captured the cutest photos out front! :) BTW, did you know, we wear shirts just so we can wipe our boogers & ice cream on them?! And here I was trying to be modest all these years, sheesh.

September flew by, oh so fast! We had lots of fun enjoying the cool weather & activities the East Valley has to offer. Gosh I miss that side of town! :(

P has been super obsessed with birthdays this year. She asked almost every night for a month or so for me to sing the birthday song at bedtime. Randomly she became concerned about Roxy & her birthday. With P's help, or persistence...we decided to throw Roxy a birthday bash. It was actually, so so fun!

We even had "Pin the Tail on Roxy".

"Goxy" (Roxy) our Nana & Papa's dog has become Pyper's favorite... girlfriend. I caught Pyper trying to polish Goxy's toenails. A few months later, she got a little nip from Goxy when she pulled out one of her whiskers. Then, I found her with a hole punch and one of Goxy's ears in hand... she told Goxy she was going to get earrings. It was even better when she put lip gloss all over Goxy's nose and mouth. She would tell Roxy... "No more k Goxy?! Okay, just a little bit mo. " She would reapply the lip gloss and Goxy went to town licking it all off. To top it all off, poor Goxy gets time out for "2 minutes" all day long from Sassy Pants Pyper. Pyps even told her, "I. Am. A. Child. Of. GOD. Goxy. Otay?!" She gets dowsed in lotion and sunscreen, she gets to wear hats, sunglasses, baby doll shoes and dishtowels for a saddle, she is a trampoline, she is a slide, she is a horsie ride, she is Pyper's dinner disposal, she gets her ears yacked off by chatty Pyper all day long, she gets scared by Pyper and her "scary teeth", she gets her hair blown dried with the pretend hairdryer, she is literally Pyper's best girlfriend, she is loved.

I caved. I went against everything I said I would NEVER do. I took Gaje to Chuck E. Cheese for birthday number five. Oh, dang. The kids actually had a lot of fun, as well as the adults... really. When we started singing Happy Birthday to Gaje, I couldn't find Ryan. Everyone else was there but him. I was a tad bit worried. I looked across the party place to find him playing a game. When I asked him 'what the heck he was doing' he told me 'he was winning more tickets for "Gaje"'. Right. :) I'm just glad everyone had a good time. I have to take a second to update the blog and brag about the wonderful fathers in my life. I have been so very blessed with a great dad. He has always taken such great care of my mom and family. He has set a wonderful example of "PROVIDING" for his family. I truly admire this characteristic which he possess. Surprisingly, it is one not many fathers posses. Especially when I was a single mother, he was a great support to me and the kids. Now, I am blessed to be married to another outstanding father. It is amazing to look over the past year and see how his relationship with the kids has blossomed. I am so grateful for his willingness to be a father, and his constant desire to be the best he can be. He is a great at "PRESIDING" and "PROTECTING" our small family. I am grateful for both of these men and the priesthood they honor. I, along with many, are blessed by them daily. Love you both.

I must admit, growing up in the same town my entire life... until now, has got me thinking how much I love and miss being close to my family! I have THE cutest, sweetest nieces and nephews ever. My kids sure miss them too... especially getting together every other weekend for sleepover at Nan & Pop's house. (Rhett: you are totally included in the grandkids, but you already knew that!) Hands down, the absolute best year of my life. It's all because of Y-O-U...seriously. Don't get me wrong, we have definitely had our fair share... or a little more.... of trials, but it almost doesn't even matter or compare to the high of being with you. It has almost been surreal, yet perfect... like this is how it should have been all along. Complete. Thanks for showing me what a true partner is, and promising to love me forever. I am with out a doubt the most blessed woman ever. You are such a great husband and daddy! I am so grateful for your desire to be the very best father you can be. Easter 2010

Easter this year was just fabulous. It was so great to have the kids home to celebrate & be able to spend time with both sides of the families... isn't that the trick?! Wednesday we went to the Easter pageant at the temple. Gaje was so, so excited to go. During the pageant, he sighed heavily and turned to me asking, "When are we going to the Easter pageant?!" I explained, that is what we were watching. He replied with, "Ugh! Where is all the bunnies?!" What a great opportunity as a parent to share the true meaning of Easter and explain the most important gift we will ever receive to my son. I was grateful he had the opportunity to attend with us, watch his sweet, little testimony of the Savior grow. We spent part of the weekend with the Hills, and the other halfish with the Penrods... lots and lots of fun, food and family. Coloring eggs was a highlight, as was family from out of town, and of course, Easter morning. It was our first holiday together in about two years, so it was pretty much amazing for me as a mother. I absolutely overwhelmed with love watching the excitement, smiles, joy and laughter on my little family's faces as we share our first Easter together. I am a sucker for love, and smiles and warm fuzziness so for me, it was as good as it has gotten in a long while. As we watched conference, I had the opportunity to reflect upon myself and recognize all that for which I am grateful. Too often I find myself overwhelmed with my trials, which so many people face as well...if not worse. It usually leaves me feeling inadequate as a wife and mother in so many ways. However, I should be rejoicing in my trials, seeking learning opportunities and focusing on the blessings each one will bring. Looking back over the years there have truly been several times in my life when I honestly didn't know how I was going to get through some days, I was afraid of what was next in my life. What I didn't fully realize in the process, was the blessings that were being showered upon me daily. If I could only train myself to see blessings rather trials, what I difference it would make. Especially now, I have so much to be thankful for, how overwhelmingly grateful I am. So! I have the cutest, sweetest kids EVER and the most amazingly great, handsome, fun husband I could ever dream of. Two wonderful set of parents and families. Fabulous friends, who need to call me to meet for some yogurt. On a side note... I am homesick... where ever that may be.

After breakfast was over, you were dressed and hair all dolled up. You were ready. I had no clue what you were so persistent on getting ready for, but you knew exactly where you were heading. I secretly watched you pull a tote bag out of Brother's closet and fill it with particular items.... I wasn't sure what they all had in common right at first. I soon learned. You filled the bag with:
1. Baby bottle.
2. Baby blanket.
3. Magnet Doodle.
4. Bag of fruit snacks.
5. Baby book.
6. Cell Phone.
7. Keys
8. Book of Mormon.
You put your favorite shoes on (slippers) and went to the door. You called me over and said, "Bye Mama. Love you too." blew a kiss, and out the front door you went, down the sidewalk. Uh... I scrambled after you and asked, "Where are you going sis?!" You turned around with out missing a beat and called, "OH! Church. Bye!" Off you went. After 10 minutes of convincing you that "church" should be inside the playroom, you finally came back inside. Gaje helped set up the chairs, and even volunteered to give the talk.

I couldn't believe you were brave enough to take both of your babies to church. Wow, what a hand full that must have been! One of them threw a terrible fit and you didn't look to thrilled your self. Good thing you brought fruit snacks and baby books. But, quickly reminded Gaje he couldn't have any. Gaje rolled his eyes and shook his head at you, then got up to give his talk.

Gaje gave a great lesson, and after you got that fussy baby to calm down, you even followed along. I watched you dig through your bag, wondering what possibly would come out next. Your scriptures. Naturally.

I am so glad you both love church as much as you do. Thanks for letting me sit in the room and take sneaky pictures. Especially for making me laugh and love motherhood as much as I do, you both make is sooo rewarding!

While you are out I have kept myself rather busy... strictly with mom and wife duties of course. I am 100% positive it is only because I miss you so, so much and keeping busy is the only way to half way forget how long you are gone. Seriously. I. miss. you. so. much. It doesn't help that Pyper asks for you every 2 hours, and acts out little scenarios with you in them, or that Gaje's chin quivers and eyes fill up with tears every time I have to tell him how long you are gone..... which happens too often, and the prayers he offers in your behalf. Even more that Diesel complains that I don't feed or water him the way you do. We have been packing, sewing, packing, cleaning, packing, scrapbooking-ish, packing, baking, packing, laundry, packing, playing, and packing some more. I post all this in hopes it will push your homesickness over the edge, to the point you can't handle it anymore and have no choice but to come home. Wishfull thinking, but nonetheless, we will be hoping.... more like anxiously awaiting our hardworking, absolutley amazing daddy's homecoming. You are missed. You are appreciated. You are loved.

Gaje worked with Papa in his garage to earn money and saved his allowance to buy a monster truck. He was so happy to finally earn all of the 4 dollars to buy it. We made the trip to Target and he runs directly to the isle he has had memorized for weeks. He takes his time to look at each. and. every. monster. truck. As we are going to pay he is thoroughly studying the back of the box. He looks up at Pyper with a concerned look and says, "See Pyper! I told you! No babies allowed!" Pointing to a picture of a baby crossed out. Pyper looks back at him with puckered lips and replies, "Oh. Yep."

London's Run

London's Run this year was fun. It was so motivating to see all of the runners. Especially to see all of the families from our community who have lost someone in their family or close to them come together. My whole family did the 2 mile Fun Run. My favorite part was Kacie following these four ladies that were all dolled up to run. She walked up behind them and shouted, "Shake that booty!" Gaje then said, "Whooaa. Look at that booty!" Gaje especially got into it and ran 95% of the way, I couldn't believe it! We all had so much fun and promised to train to for the 10k next year....yikes, better get to running!

yes. i was definitely, absolutely, way in over my head when i took this project on. with out a doubt. it was so much easier to pull apart than it was to put it back together. i officially broke 4 sewing machine needles, went through a full box of staples, used only nice works, smiled constantly and didn't yell once....in other words ryan was shouting "blue" at me (inside joke) but, still, i have my cute brocade chair i have always wanted, and it was worth it... mostly because i bought it originally at goodwill on half off day for $5. i'm not sure that it will last five years... or five hours in one piece, but i love it.... & forbid anyone in my house to sit in it. i still have a few things to tweak on it, and extra material, which can only mean pillows to come. so many people told me over and over and over again not to do it. but thanks to jessica, who was my inspiration, I DID IT! first goal of 2010 i can actually cross off my list! YAY! thanks jess!

Every year since I was little we would have a special Christmas family home evening and open one gift that was always, always Christmas jammies. This year we carried the tradition on once more but did it a little earlier because we don't have the kids Christmas eve. I'm not sure what I was thinking when I decided to make the kids jammies, but they look super cute on our adorable kids. They were sooo excited to open a present and talk about the gifts the Savior has given each of us. I love the innocence of children and their eagerness to learn.

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas...

So, seriously. I have decided the saying "What goes around, comes around" is a big, fat understatement. When my sister and I were little we shared a bedroom with a white, iron daybed...which is now Pyper's... a little ironic... you be the judge. We had navy blue carpet... got to love the 80's. Anyways, we were always thinking of creative games to play and stories to pretend. Once we found a bottle of baby powder. I can still remember squeezing the bottle and a big cloud of powder shooting out like snow when landing on the blue carpet. We thought it was the most magical thing that had ever happened to us. Can you believe it?! It was SNOWING in our room! My mom couldn't. And much to my surprise when I woke up this morning, I couldn't either. Gaje and Pyper had found a bottle of baby powder.

And it was SNOWING in Pyper's room. The room was full of giggles and feet slipping and sliding all over the floor as they skated. Instantly I gasped, but when I remembered my own childhood memory, I couldn't help but laugh. Which brought uncontrollable laughs from all three of us. Suddenly I stopped. I asked Gaje what had happened. He said, "It snow-ded mom, what do you fink?!" Pyper looked up at me with her bright blue, marble eyes and said, "SHOOOO!" Then covered her mouth and laughed. Of course all of her pretend kitchen food was mixed in. She was cooking and Gaje was shoveling snow. Naturally.

Okay, seriously what a slacker I am. I am playing catch up. So many fun memories with Christmas right around the corner. This month started out with Pyper's 2nd birthday. I seriously can't believe I don't have a "baby" any more... it feels sooo weird!!! We had a fun Sunday dinner with the Penrod side and made our famous gingerbread houses we have made every year since I can even remember. We even have home videos of Molly in a high chair making them!!! :) So fun. I am not sure if my sweet husband has made them before or not, but being the contractor he is... I wasn't allowed to touch our house. The inner "kid" came out in him and he took over. It is a beautiful house, thanks Ry. Personally my favorite is our "flagstone" patio in front. I will say he "sub contracted" me to build a snowman in the front yard.. minus the hat I made for Frosty.

I took Gaje shopping a few weeks ago for the cousin names he drew in the family drawings and the Secret Santa game at preschool. However, in his mind it is the season of recieving still. He had a whole dollar he earned burning a hole in his pocket. He came with me to the store and we stopped by the toy section for him to by a racecar. After deciding and complaining and whining, he finally decided on one. We left the toy section and went to check out. Upon checking out, he discovered the car had a small amount of PURPLE on it. Oh, no. What to do. Seriously. The sky is falling. He chucked the car out of the shopping cart. Melted onto the floor and began screaming, crying, and all of that fun, fun grocery store business. I smiled, picked the car up, and handed it to the clerk. I explained we weren't going to purchase the car today, but we were going to go home and take naps. Gaje didn't notice any of this, he was super busy. We checked out, with him screaming about purple the whole way to the car. When we got to the car, he said, "So where is my gross, purple car anyways Mom?!" I smiled and told him, "Oh! I gave it back to the nice man who check us out. I told him you didn't like that car, and we would come back another time to look." I knew what would be coming next so I got in and drove home, singing as loud as I could to... "Santa Claus is coming to town" the whole. way. home. When we pulled into our driveway and I turned the music down. I turned around and smiled as big as I could at Gaje. He gave me the meanest face he could come up with and then said, "Oh, yeah!!! You know what I am going to do MOM?!!! I am writing a note to Santa RIGHT NOW! I am going to tell him that you are NAAAAUUUUUGHTY! And he won't bring you ANY presents!" He seemed pretty pleased with himself. I told him to "go rest his heart" on his bed, and he was out two minutes later.

Speaking of Saint Nick.... the sweet old man came to our house for our Preschool Christmas Party. He was the best Santa EVER! I. Could. NOT. Stop. Laughing. Seriously. I had the most handsome, charming man I know dress up... and didn't recognize him myself. It was so funny. He was so worried Pyper would recognize him and call, "DA DA!!!" But, oh no, just the opposite and quite hilarious. I still laugh thinking of it, I felt like a little girl, I could not pull myself together. I made Gaje take a picture of us together. By far my most favorite memory of sitting on Santa's lap! :)

The Flood

Getting ready in the morning, one of the crazy busiest times of the day. We were rushing to get ready one morning. I put waffles in the toaster oven for the kids, and told Gaje, "When it beeps, that means it's done. Come get me when it beeps and I will dish up." He of course was on the job. Thirty seconds later he got distracted and came into my bathroom where I was getting ready to tell me a story. Pyper is our shadow, and usually not too far behind one of us. She came flying in the bathroom about a minute after Gaje did, screaming and shaking. She was babbling something at the top of her lungs. "Pyper, shh. Gaje is telling a story." I told her. She wasn't having it, she pulled at my hand, pointing toward the hall. I told Gaje, "Go see if the timer went off. I doubt it, because I literally set it a minute ago." "Oh, yeah!" Gaje remembered. He ran down the hall, and Pyper gripped my leg tighter. Whatever. I rush to finish getting ready. Gaje comes running into the bathroom, screaming and shaking. "AAAHHHHH! There is something SCARY out there!!! It's coming, it's coming!" Then the timer finally goes off. Five minutes is up. Crap. I am freaked out immediatly, especially because of the police incedent. Seriously. I am thinking, did the toaster oven have something in it that caught on fire?! Is someone in the house?! I run down the hall as fast as I can. As I turn the corner to the kitchen, Gaje buries his face in my shoulder and Pyper follows. I. STEP. INTO. ONE. FULL. INCH. of WATER. Pyper points to the floor and says, "Uh, oh." I said, "PYPER!" She immediatly ran and got on her bed, and punished herself. There was a stool next to the kitchen sink, she had stepped on and turned the faucet on. It got her wet and she didn't like it one bit, so she got down to tell me to turn it off. When I sent Gaje in to inspect, and he came back screaming. In his mind, it was coming... in the kitchen, down the hall, everywhere. I asked Gaje as we were cleaning why he said it was "scary". He said, "Because I knew you would fink I did it, and I would get in trouble!" Let's ring in the holidays with terrible twos. Thanks for the flood Pyper!

As a family, we visited the temple. We took the kids through the Visitor's Center. It was so great. Gaje really enjoyed himself, and knows he "belongs".
